“Giraffada” is the first beneficiary of the Apulia International Film Fund
Giraffada is a story set in Palestine on the border of the West Bank, near the wall separating the area from the Israeli colonies. Yacine is a vet in a zoo which is home to a couple of giraffes, Rita and Brownie, the only true love of her son, Ziad. The focus of the story is based on the theft of one of the giraffes and an extraordinary journey across the occupied territories with all the risks this involves.
This is the story of “Giraffada” directed by Rani Massalha, the first beneficiary of the Apulia International Film Fund, a new grant which was made available by the Apulia Film Commission for international film production companies shooting in Apulia. Launched only a few weeks after the Cannes Film Festival, the Apulia International Film Fund will offer around €500,000 in funding in 2012.
The first funding application made by Mact Productions (Paris) with executive producers Lumière & Co srl (Milan), was accepted by the Apulia Film Commission board during their meeting on Tuesday 5 June. The full-length film will be shooting in Apulia, in locations between Fasano and Brindisi, from 24 September to 6 October.
