AFC finances “Marina” an italian – belgian coproduction
The Apulia International Film Fund, a new fund set up by the Apulia Film Commission for international film productions, welcomes another successful application: “Marina”, an italian-belgian co-production directed by Stijn Coninx.
The film is set in 1948, in a beautiful village in the south of Italy. Salvatore, father of Rocco, a lively 10 year old, has left for Belgium to work in the coal mines, the only way to save his wife and children from poverty. Yet he misses his family so much that he soon asks his wife to join him there.
This is the background to the story of “Marina”, directed Stijn Coninx, a film which has been awarded a grant through the Apulia International Film Fund, a new fund set up by the Apulia Film Commission for international productions shooting in Apulia.
The funding application was made by the Belgian production company Eyeworks Film and TV together with Les Films du Fleuve. This production company, headed by brothers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, is well-known for its involvement in the production of films such as “Rosetta”, “Le gamin au vélo”, “L’enfant” and “Le fils”. The executive producers are Orisa Produzioni S.r.l. The film project was given a positive evaluation by the AFC Board of Directors on 9th July 2012. This full-length feature film, starring Enzo Marchetti, Dante Marmone and Claudia Lerrii with other acting personnel to be announced, will be shooting in Accadia (province of Foggia) between 17th and 21st September 2012.
